Description
When one hears the term "dark fantasy", images of "horror" immediately come to mind. However, dark fantasy is much more than that. It is a genre that can be used to explore the human psyche, to place characters in situations that are both frightening and enlightening. It is a genre that allows for both hope and despair, for tragedy and triumph.
Bob Orsillo's "Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine" is a perfect example of dark fantasy done right. The series of paintings is a surreal journey into the mind of a shaman, where we are shown both the light and the dark that exists within us all. The paintings are beautiful and disturbing, a perfect reflection of the human condition. - Agnus Inness Curator
