There will never be another Alfred Hitchcock THE MASTER OF SUSPENSE. This is my way of honoring the great master with my own freehand version of his profile sketch.
In the 1955 series Alfred Hitchcock drew the caricature of himself featured in the opening credits. The "Master of Suspense" also known as "the man behind the scene" was inspired by that caricature.
Alfred Hitchcock's He began his film career as an illustrator of title cards for silent movies.
The sponsors, who had great influence regarding the presentation of the show, insisted that for the episodes ending with the perpetrator "getting away with a crime", Alfred Hitchcock provide a statement in his closing monologue that would assure audiences that justice was served.
Most people who have seen this series remember Alfred Hitchcock's...
A Life in Light and Shadow Bob Orsillo has always been drawn to the power of light and shadow. This fascination manifested in a dual pursuit: the meticulous precision of photography and the grand storytelling of cinematography. As both a photographer and a cinematographer, Bob has carved a unique path in the artistic world. Orsillo's journey began with photography, capturing still moments that resonated with a deeper truth. He developed a keen eye for composition, using light and shadow to evoke emotions and tell stories within a single frame. This foundation in photography informs his work as a cinematographer, where he orchestrates moving landscapes of light and shadow to bring narratives to life on the screen. As a cinematographer,...

I am sharing with your your devotion for this director and his films. I love them...and agree with many of the things read here about them. Everything but boring. A polifaceted soul, not wasy to understand may be and for one thing perfectly exposed to others via his "boutades". Now that I have been informed by the way he planned the openings and closing of the series films, I can understand that he was also a great public relations of himself. And that all of his films would not have had that intensity about human sexual relations and interior drama and neurosis, wether had he been a handsome man, with "Adonis" traits and attractive virility... I consider that the scene of the Mark Rutlandīs approach to Marnie, she... so animal like collapsed by the flickering thunder storm...is one of the hottest one that I have seen in my life...and beleive..all is in our imagination..but what an imagination!! Thanks for the info, and the so nice rendering, Bob. Rosa
Bob Orsillo replied:
Rosa that is indeed a power scene. Unforgettable! Thank you :)
